Annual Awards Evening 2009

Introduction

The Town Council held its Annual Awards Evening at Capron House on 16th December. This evening is designed to pay tribute to the contribution made by various groups and individuals who give so cheerfully and willingly of their time and expertise to make Midhurst such a wonderful place to live and bring a bit of sunshine into the lives of others.

This year the Council formally recognised the contribution made by :

Mog Fordham – Mog is a committed and hard working Youth Worker. She works as an Outreach worker engaging with youngsters who would not usually think of attending organised Youth Clubs. She is also a regular helper on the mobile Snack Shack which provides a meeting place and reasonably priced refreshments for youngsters in the town.

Piers Taylor – Piers is a member of the CDC Community Team and until recently was Vice Chairman of the Midhurst & District Crime Reduction Forum. Piers was a key fund raiser for the Snack Shack and his commitment and enthusiasm played a large part in ensuring this project went ahead.

Lorna Bird – Lorna has worked in the Council Help Point in North Street for many years. She has always gone the extra mile to help callers with queries and problems and her smiling face will be greatly missed now she has moved to Chichester to work.

Dr. Peter Hargreaves – Peter was nominated for his award not only in recognition of his work in establishing the unique palliative care service which reached the finals of the Best of Health Awards but also for the care and support he offers to the families of all his patients.

Colin Hughes – Colin recently stepped down as Chairman of the Town Council but continues to work for the town, helping to organise the Street Party, chairing the Midhurst & District Crime Reduction Forum, serving on the Finance and Planning Committees and helping to revitalise the Town Twinning Association amongst other things.

The award the Town Council established in memory of its long serving Councillor Bill Godfrey was given to Nichaela Boxall for the work she has put in to reforming the Midhurst Rangers and as a leader of the Rainbows.
