Christmas Shop Window Competition 2011
Global Flowers fought off the toughest competition yet to win Midhurst Town Council's Christmas Shop Window Competition.
Midhurst Traders have pulled out all the stops this year to bring the spirit of Christmas to our town. Eye-catching and original displays sit side-by-side with more traditional, understated decorations to suit the nature of the business. Even those businesses whose products are not typically associated with Christmas have made a special effort that has really brought the town to life.
The competition judges said they were impressed by the best display of windows since the competition began in 2001.
The judging panel was made up of Midhurst Town Councillors Glyn Upjohn and Mark Purves, Town Clerk Joan Hursthouse and Emily Litchfield from Midhurst Camera Club. After much deliberation the winners were named as:
First - Global Flowers - Three beautifully decorated windows each with its own theme. A brilliant display with lots of attention to detail.
Joint second - The Real Flower Company - Two windows, each beautifully decorated with a different domestic theme.
Joint second - Kiss Chase Kids - A lovely traditional fireplace with stockings, capturing all the excitement and anticipation of Christmas Eve.
Third - Me & Meya - A very tasteful window that really comes into its own after dark.
Last year's winner, The Upholsterer, was highly commended for yet another amazing and original display - a leather-upholstered gingerbread cottage. Estetica, Revamp and Cancer Research were also highly commended for the tremendous effort, humour and originality that went into their displays.
Midhurst Town Council would like to congratulate all those who took part in the shop window competition - Midhurst really does look wonderful this year.
